DC is racing Marvel to the bottom of the barrel toward finding the most boring superhero to make a movie about. Marvel came out swinging with Ant Man but their tried and true method of OK movies stood them in good stead. DC pulled off a master act of releasing Batman Vs Superman and are now following it up with Wonder Woman, who we’re not allowed to hate, and Aquaman, which we can and will.

Principal photography has begun and it is being helmed by James Wan (“The Conjuring” films, “Furious 7”). Jason Momoa stars in the title role, returning to the character he plays in this fall’s “Justice League.”

The movie will feature Amber Heard as The Babe and Willem Dafoe as Probably The Bad Guy (but surprisingly isn’t).

Looks like Khal Drogo got over his fear of the ocean

As is fitting for the king of the sea, the shoot will take place mainly in locations spanning the stunning Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia, with extensive filming to be accomplished at Village Roadshow Studios. The production will utilize the facility’s sprawling backlot and all nine VRS soundstages, including its newest, Stage 9, the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Filming will also take place in Newfoundland, Sicily and Tunisia.

The movie is set for a 2018 release.

I dropped the news on our resident Professional with an opinion Matt Rust and he reacted accordingly.

“I’ve never heard Jason Momoa speak an english word other than ‘no’ so it’s probably a good thing he’ll be under water most of the time”.

Sounds like he’s going to love it.
