I managed to get my hands on GTAV the other day and finally got to experience what all the console gamers have had the chance to enjoy for like two years now, except with like, better graphics.
I’ve got everything cranking pretty much, except some Post FX stuff, so I’m assuming my explosions probably look a tiny bit shit. At the moment I have had some shadow problems which I haven’t bothered looking into fixing. A big square follows my shadows around. Not normally noticeable but when you’re in a plane admiring the Los Santos vistas you can’t help but notice a giant box following your planes shadow around.
The game itself though. Omg, holy shit. This is the best GTA since GTA3 as a kid. I feel like I’m in one of those crime films, and I get to have fun blatting around in a car (never catch a cab). The world they’ve made has had a ton of love and care put into it. It’s kind of refreshing to have so much chucked into a game. And I finally get to see Lazlow! Chatterbox from GTA3 was probably the most radio I ever listened to. Which is just a sign of how much I listen to radio, considering I didn’t even own a PS2 and had to jump the fence and hang out with my friends to even play GTA3.
All the random events that occur in this game really make it come alive. I’m terrified about all the ones I may have missed out on somehow.
Oh and while we’re on the topic of reminiscing, I noticed some art used ingame from Vice City:
